so what did they show it for?
did it have anything to do with that you were asked to take it down, or did they just want to show it for comedic value?

Supposedly, Outkast performed this morning on the show - yesterday's display was a feeble attempt at plugging the concert.

dan & ryan -

first, i wanted to add to the praise for the video. good stuff, and i think it does a great job in keeping with the feel of both the peanuts comic/cartoon and outkast's music.

i saw the .mov several months ago but never caught the end credits, and only did this morning when i did a search for it on the web & snagged a copy for myself. so here i am today.

while i understand *why* us issued the c&d, i still think perhaps they shot that off too quickly. if nothing else, it would suck in the younger mtv crowd into the perennial orgy-of-peanuts in the winter months on tv...

i was curious, tho, if outkast or laface or arista have ever issued an official (or unofficial) statement on the situation?

it seems those guys have have a pretty good sense of humour... i'd like to see them perform the song live on national television, all dressed as peanuts characters, doing the little peanuts dance, with venisproductions.com bumperstickers on their... uh... bumpers. that would certainly put it all on a parody, or at least satire, field.

but that's just me. :)

cheers,

squeak

you know, considering the number of people who daily surf the web... (I think we can bet it's up around the one billion mark, considering globally...) a certain fraction of them are still looking for that CB hey ya film. of those people who find the film and enjoy it, I'd guess that another fraction of those people will seek out the website that created it. I'd guess about 1 in every couple hundred people actually takes the time to register on the forums and make a post.

This thread has had three people take that time in the last three months.

just how many hits does your site get, Dan?

Not many. It's no Penny Arcade. Heck, it's not even a Count Your Sheep.

I frequent the venis quite a bit.

I think its just as good as those others you mentioned. Probably not as popular because you're not so big on punchlines. But that's cool. We like it that way.

I have been in several other communities before this one and one thing I noticed in each case is that as popularity grew the community changed. Almost never in a good way. I don't mean that the standard of the artistic endeavour decreased (*worships Dan*) I mean that the fan-base itself altered in it's focus and expectations.

An example. I am part of what used to be a fairly small online community that were fans of one of the biggest selling "adventure puzzle" games of all time. Recently several new products have been released that have drawn in whole new waves of fans. The problem with this is that due to the needs of some, other focal points for the community were constructed. In this way, what used to be a fairly unified mass of happily chattering loonies has fractured into many different sub-communities with different interests and hopes for upcoming releases whose primary goal seems to be to prove to the others that their view is "right". The result is a great deal of verbal warfare, sniping and unpleasantness. This is one of the main reasons that I have drawn away from it. Which led to me wandering around and discovering AM quite by accident. Which was a wonderful turn of events (*hugs to all*).

Of course I am probably part of a similar wave entering this community so you might want to string me up now as a preventative measure. :D
