Nintendo DSi

You waste time playing games. Why not waste time talking about them too?

Nintendo DSi

Postby Misty Rydia » Fri Apr 24, 2009 4:04 am

So, I really want to know, does anyone have a DSi here? If so, what do you think of it? I got one and I love it. It's great for when I'm at work and it's slow enough for me to use the internet to browse pages or play around with the camera.

What do you guys think of the Nintendo DSi? Stupid? Awesome? I wanna know!

I got one. The bigger screens are more than enough to justify buying the system.

I loooove my DSi. I got the blue one! I bought a PRP at Gamestop though just in case they come out with a different color next year. Bwahahaha. The camera features are fun and I love the Inernet browser. I haven't done much with the voice recorder though. I love how the system itself feels. No more nasty fingerprint residue on the case!! YES!

Right now, my reaction is boo to no GBA slot. I still play GBA games more than DS games on my DS.

I actually felt the same way sarge. But since I still have a GBA, I cared more about not being able to use the GBA slot for DS games- the guitar hero games which needed the gba slot to be able to play and the pokemon games that used the GBA slot for trading purposes.

Ditto what mongoose said.

Also, my DS has been nothing but an alarm clock for a long time now.

I was an early adopter of the DS and I feel burned by it. Spent a lot of money on something inferior to the DSlite.

I like it in theory, and sure, I'd want one...but I don't have that kinda money anymore.

I've got an original DS. I'm content with it. As for the DSi, the lack of a GBA slot was a major turn-off for me. Also, the VGA resolution camera could be so much more. My phone gets better resolution than that. Not that I take many pictures anyways.

From what I hear, the battery in the DSi has a smaller capacity than the DS Lite. I don't know if that's made up for with more efficient power usage though.

Ditto like everyone else about the ld DS. No GBA slot, a camera (OMG, oh wait, I don't care), and they are going to try to release DSi only games.

Sorta of pluses are bigger and more clear screen, but not worth a new system. So if I have money and absolutely nothing else to spens it on, I MAY get one, likely not though.

I see what your trying to do with a very slight change to a pre-existing system Nintendo. Your Gamecube to Wii change was huge enough to warrent it. This is not. Jerks . . .

They keep this up and I'll start just copying all my games =/

Eh, who needs a GBA slot? You can get a GBA for about $10 these days.

Me, I don't actually /have/ a DS, so if I were getting a new one, I guess, why not get the DSi?

Plus, I'm always a fan of bigger and brighter screens. :)

I've had a DSi for months now, and I think despite the lack of GBA slot, the other features were well worth it in the long run. Take for example, Mighty Flip Champs and the animation tool Flipnote Studio. Granted, I don't pretty much use the camera, but then I find not much use for the GBA slot considering I have a GameBoy Micro. (Yeah, I know I wouldn't be able to use the Taito paddles for Space Invaders Extreme, but then again the score is not counted when using it.) The browser has recently released an update, so its performance is already upgraded from the already miles-better-than-the-original-DS-Opera browser for the DSi.

The sound quality is exceptionally good, too. I hated the somewhat scratchy sound the Lite has in its audio, even when using headphones. The DSi pehaps has the loudests speakers of any handheld out there, and listening to Chrono Trigger with headphones using it really makes you appreciate the bass.

And yeah, the matte finish is a big plus.

I'm content with my DS Lite (had an original DS from launch before it was stolen). As long as the remake of Pokemon Gold/Silver can play on the Lite, I'll be a happy camper.

Why am I looking forward to Pokemon? I'm going to be 23 in a few weeks. This isn't good.
