My first Death metal concert.

Postby ma-kun » Sun Apr 19, 2009 6:44 am

So I just returned from my very first death metal concert.
It was Cannibal Corpse with opener The Faceless- if any of you know who they are.

Im really not a fan of the music genre, but I had nothing to do tonight and my friends needed another car, they paid for my ticket in return.

It was a pretty interesting show- lots of hot women and half nekkid men, which was weird. The music was more noise then melody but I assume thats what its supposed to be.

Anyways just thought you all would be interested to know that I popped my metal cherry.

laters.

I gather this was the "I'm going to scream into the microphone with a voice like I've been smoking since I was 3" type of metal?

Right on the nose Dan.

It was more noise than music.

The only cool thing about the band was that the lead vocalist was the inspiration behind Metalacolypse's Nathan Explosion.

I love metal shows. I go to several every year. Just last weekend I went to the Music as a Weapon tour with a bunch of great bands and had a fantastic time. Metal is the best!

Cannibal Corpse is good stuff yo.

"DRAGONFORCE IS THE FASTEST METAL EVER."

I've only gone to one metal concert, which was a CD show for Shatterproof releasing their first disc. My ex-girlfriend's cousin wanted to go, so I tagged along with them. My neighbor Kapree is also in a metal band, and I've never heard them play. I was thinking that it should be fun, since I like heavy metal.

Yeah, the first strum of the electric guitars nearly blew my damn ears off.

While fun, I was deaf afterward. And I like hearing. I didn't enjoy heavy metal dancers, where all they do is flail their arms around like an idiot. I've been told that anyone that performs this act is to be tackled immediately. I may have to do that next time.

I too am intrigued by the offer, and that it wasn't followed up on. :P I've started listening to Alestorm recently, and a little of Swashbuckle... but I find with swashbuckle I enjoy the songs where they're not actually singing the best. :P

both are Pirate Metal, Alestorm is from the UK.

I listened to 'Bolt thrower' when I was younger. I'm more into industrial then true metal, but there is a time and a place for everything.

I think Angry Bear metal is kinda fun, just because it's pretty difficult to go that deep and still be understood.

Screaming metal... just doesn't sound like "singing" to me... I can't *really* tell what they're saying... and while I can hear some musical tallent in the music itself... the screaming is kinda a turn off from the genre.
