3D FF IV YES RLY

You waste time playing games. Why not waste time talking about them too?

According to executive producer Takashi Tokita, the scenario writer and lead game designer of the original release, three quarters of the original script had been left out of the original Super Famicom version.[8][6]

Some of this missing script has been worked into the DS version in the form of flashbacks, including the childhoods of Cecil, Kain and Rosa. There are also brand new scenes.

so the games out now, and I've played through most of it and I have to say- Its a fun game but i think the new graphics look awful. its like ff7 graphics only worse. the cut scenes though mostly unnecessary, are nice looking. but the in game graphics look like ass. or at least I think so. Im sure my favorite ffIV lover is going to disagree with me, but I can't help but feel sad when I think that all of Squarenix's ds remakes are going to be in this style. can you imagine how bad chrono trigger will look in this style.

Yep, I disagree with you, but hey, that's your opinion.

Personally, I think the game's graphics are AMAZING considering what SYSTEM it was released on. If you're expecting super awesome graphics from a DS then perhaps your expectations are too high. I thought the graphics were far superior to a PS1 game (*cough* FFVII*cough*) but that's just my stance.

I've played every single remake of FFIV (lol wonderswan color lol psone lol gba lol etc) and this one, so far, has been one of the best. There has been a great amount of attention to detail. The Slyph cave looks GORGEOUS; there are waterfalls and flowers and vines and mossy water that you wouldn't have believed was there from the previous versions. You can see the heat from the magma rising up in the underworld, and all of the monsters have their own unique fighting actions. Each castle looks DIFFERENT from the previous castle! There are more unique characters this time around (not just the main cast, but NPCs as well). There is MOVEMENT in the backgrounds of each battle screen.

I felt that the cut scenes were great and revealed more depth to the characters this time around. I found myself crying not once but twice at two particular scenes of two notable characters. The voice acting is overall a fantastic addition, though I did balk at a few particular character's voices (Rubicante, for example. I always imagined him with a far more elegant, sophisticated voice.). The new CGI cinematics are gorgeous. However, I did not like the new model they gave to the Mist Dragon -- I feel like it looks like a drag queen (lol dragon drag queen). Shiva looked like a snotty 4-year-old with those pig tails, and Titan...wtf, he went from awesome body-builder-world-wrestler lookin' guy to a stupid rock man. Not cool. But hey, at least Leviathan looks awesome. The Slyphs look cute as hell too.

The gameplay has the same classic feel, and the addition of the augment system is actually pretty cool. It makes the game worth playing over again to go back and customize different augments for different characters. I thought giving Kick to Cecil was cool, and Kain having Edward's Sing ability was hysterical.

The game is a lot harder this time around; I was surprised to die to a few random encounters (WTF FLAME HOUND WTF GFDI!!!) and the boss battles have been completely changed (well, except for Rubicante's, for some reason...). Cagnazzo was a lot harder to fight this time around, and I've found myself using status spells far more than I have before. Many spells and abilities have been made stronger (even Venom! omg!). The game has become far more tactical than before, so it's very refreshing.

Overall, I found this game to be a whole new experience, one that I found extremely rewarding. It's too bad it wasn't the same for you, ma-kun.

You can rest easy knowing that they are not doing a complete graphics overhaul for Chrono Trigger DS. It's just a port with a new dungeon. Yawn.
