Despite the fact, that the crime rate begins to go down after people realize there's someone out there killing off all these criminals... The police want him to go down...
They believe, rightfully so it would seem, that the killer is a psychopath... That no one can be allowed to pass judgement on anyone they please... The police, in their frustration over the case... contact someone with powerful deductive reasoning abilities... a man (boy) simply known as L...
And so... It's a battle of wits between L... and the student playing as God...
It's like... You don't want either one of them to lose... You get so involved with the student, as a character... and L, too, is a character you cannot help but root for...
The story is so... amazing...
