Edit: Just adding some stuff...

Eilzabeth Hobbs - Sophmore

The first thing anybody notices about Elizabeth is her hair. Shoulder-length and white as snow, Elizabeth always stands out in a crowd, because hers is usually the only head that's difficult to stare directly at in direct sunlight. She's short, but not so short that you'd think twice about it. Iff you stopped to look in her eyes, you'd see something there--some spark of dark grey behind the violet irises that hinted at some force not entirely connected with this physical world.

You'd see this because Elizabeth is very closely related to the spirits of the dead. More than a medium or channeler, Elizabeth communicates with the world of spirits as easily as communicating with another person face to face, perhaps even easier. The normal perils of contact with ghosts, spirits, and spectres--posession, haunting, and madness--do not hold much danger for Elizabeth. She can allow herself to be indwelt by nearly any spirit or ghost only to regain control of herself with seemingly no effort. At the peak of her power she can become like a ghost herself, immersing herself in the energies of the spirit world to become intangible and nearly invisible. Recently she has shown some promise in evoking the energy of the other side as blasts of negative force, but she still has much to learn about conjuring and controlling those forces outside of their normal realm.

One of the more unfortunate aspects of this ability is that Elizabeth is somewhat withdrawn around most people. She finds conversation with ghosts so effortless that it is almost more difficlt for her to interact with other human beings. Still, she is supoprted by her older brother and the couple friends she's made at Chambers so far. Besides, it's not as if nobody notices her--everybody knows the girl with the white hair. Recently, she's been turning to help from her friends in the spirit world more and more often, letting them control her body to help her out in different situations. As a result, her personality can appear to vary wildly as she allows different spirits to take control.

Kyle Hobbs - Junior

Kyle is a tall, lanky sixteen year old with arms like lengths of wire and legs that seem longer than his body should allow. Kyle is short, stocky, built like a tank made out of elephants. Kylle's blond, brown, orange and sea-green hair hangs down over his blue-green-hazel eyes...when he wants. Much as his sister Elizabeth is master over the world of the spirit, Kyle is master over the world of flesh. His talents are not as a shape-shifter or doppleganger, rather he has complete control over his physical body, causing his limbs and muscles to grow or contract at will. He can't become a chair or mimic another person with any accuracy, but he can become incredibly strong or agile with a simple thought.

Needless to say, Kyle is very durable and resistant to injury. He heals unnaturally quickly, and is able to focus his abilities on the bodies of others with concentration. After two years of training in the infirmary, Kyle has become a proficient healer, able to project his energies to encourage the regrowth of damaged tissue and boost the strength of his classmates for breif periods of time.

Kyle is very protective of his younger sister Elizabeth, and has put himself in danger on more than one occasion because of it. Elizabeth is more withdrawn than Kyle, mostly because of her connection to the spirit world, and Kyle sees it as his duty to make his sister get out into the world and have fun. It's almost guaranteed that if Kyle shows up at an event, he'll have a very reluctant Elizabeth in tow. Outside of that, Kyle stays active in Duel, and is hoping that he can preform well enough this year to be considered for Duel Team Captain next year. His abilities advanced early on at Chambers, and for the last two years he's been comfortable coasting on his talents. This year, though, he feels like his abilities have plateaued, and he's been pushing himself to get better before he gets left behind. As a result, he pursues anything he does at Chambers with relentless intensity. Workingi in the infirmary, Duel, regular schoolwork--he gives 100% all the time.

*hah-foof*

You wouldn't BELIEVE the dust on this thing.

Now, what's this I hear about a new CH? I think some ground rules need to be set in place: no killing the faceless students, less time in the infirmary, and enough with the angels and demons already!

Yes, I was guilty of that, but all of that went into realms of stupidity beyond comprehension.

Ok, first I would like to bring back Mr. Scott. He'd be much more comfortable with his surroundings, but basically the same. There shouldn't be any real conflict here since he really didn't have any meaningful relationships with any of the previous characters beyond a mild mentor/student thing with Ms. Rosa.

I will, of course, have to scrap A.J. since he'd have moved on to do other things after graduating. Unless he somehow got talked into being an instructor of some sort, which is unlikely, but not impossible.

---------------------------------

Preliminary idea: I don't have a name yet, but I've got an image, attitude and ability.

Ability: First, he can fly and levitate small objects near him. The closer to him, the larger the object, up to and including another person if he's practically hugging them. Possibly a result of this levitation is near superhuman agility. He's an excellent dancer, superb with unarmed combat and able to climb things any normal person would find next to impossible.

Attitude: He loves attention, but hates to admit it. He will often do inane, insane, and sometimes downright stupid things for the sole purpose of showing other people his exploits. While he loves attention, he hates being part of any kind of formal group or stereotype. For example: he can't stand the Dual Club, 'bunch of brainless testosterone factories who spend all day patting each other on the back and reassuring themselves of how awesome they are'. Generally he's content to let everybody say and do as they please as long as it doesn't affect him directly, though there are a few topics that will get a very long-winded rant out of him.

Image: He has brown hair that he keeps trimmed short enough to keep from getting tangled but still long enough to be perpetually messy. Flight goggles hang around his neck and a leather jacket on his shoulders. He has an affinity for black tshirts and baggy cargo pants tucked into tall military style boots. He's about 6 feet tall and only 120 pounds.

Crap...

Curse you, Saaaarge! I get on here after spending hours thinking up a character and a backstory, and I crash headfirst into a power that's a dead close synonym to mine.

I'll just put forth the basic bare bones of the character, then.

Okki Ponns

Half-breed between a Samoan and a skunk, raised in Northeast America. Strong, but covered in his share of fat. I need a power before I can go much further with it.

I think this thread should also be used to discuss our thoughts on certain characters. I'd like to stop any Mary Sues before they start.

Also, best to announce characters that for some reason decided to stay on the grounds. That only leaves me with Ms. Rosa, who I have no intention of making main-character. As sad as it makes me to say, I get no Challa.

Also, three to five sounds better for years than two to three. If old characters are going, I want them -gone-.

Which character that I thought up was the one that ruined your ideas? Elizabeth was kind of my first idea and I'm definately more married to it than I am Kyle. If he's the one that screws you up I'm more than happy to rethink it.

The power was more Kyle's. I was aiming for the ability to manipulate flesh of both self and others, but not being good enough at it to make it even or permanently stick.

Basically, the way I had Okki set up, was that he's a non-magical healer. Closing wounds is easy, but fixing burns and regrowing limbs is extremely difficult, because he has to actually think about what he's doing, and not make things too long, short, or forget veins and arteries. Most of the time he just lets the DNA fix things itself, but he himself is an example of trying to change his body. He had originally been thin, then decided to pack on muscle, which was a bit of a failed attempt. After fixing misproportions, he didn't put in the effort to maintain it, and gained a huge appetite, ergo his current form. All his work requires direct physical contact, which is why he turns down a lot of 'requests' from other people.

Gah. But that's too much information anyway, and that's only what I had working. So it's up to you if you want to keep Kyle as such.

Gah. Now y'all got me think of character ideas. I was contemplating a 12-year-old kid who is smart enough to have skipped a few grades. His parents are both super-powered, his dad working for the military and his mom doing relief in Africa. He was more or less raised by his grandmother (on his father's side) who is not super-powered. They all assume he will be super-powered in some sense, but he has yet to realize his potential.

I'm stumped. I'm honestly stumped. I don't know what to do. All I have in mind is a gal with red hair who's fifteen-sixteen, and that's about it. I don't know what to do. I'm at a loss for what kind of power she should have. I blame my stupid attachment to my other characters, but I have to get over it. I'm going to give it some more thought. We'll see...bah, never been so stumped before.

Also, I'd like this RP to start off with more existing relationships. I'd be fine, for example, Sarge, with Kyle staying as is, if he and Okki already had an existing friendship. It'd make sense that the two would work together.

So, in your character descriptions, make it clear whether or not they're new transfers, returning students, or returning students open to previous interaction.

I'd actually prefer the "let's be friends" option. I don't think we need to specifically state who's frineds with whom while we're working out our characters as long as we work it out amongst ourselves and RP it from day one.

My character's back story was going to have some pre-existing relationship information in it so I'm glad you guys agree with that concept.
all this is up for debate right now as I haven't fully decided if this is what I want my character to be, but It was slow today at work so I wrote this up. The following is taken directly from my notes I wrote.

Name: Harris Levinson (Hair-iss Lev-in-son)
Age: 16
Year: Junior
Height: 5'8'' and growing
Weight: 170-ish

Physical Description
Tall and Lanky. looks like he hasn't fully grown into his body yet. Short brown hair that seems to stand up on its own, looks rather unstylish and unstylable. Dresses in a Disheveled manner (wrinkled shirts, worn and dirty jeans, ratty tennis shoes)- yet has an odd fascination with the fashion industry. Blue eyes. the white of his eyes have a yellow tint to them. Body hair shaved off like in the style of a pro-swimmer (see Power's Description).

Personality
Tends to favor Creative Tasks over mechanical. Honest to a fault and more than willing to speak his mind (almost in a childlike fashion) prefers to use common sense over book smarts. Doesn't understand some basic school concepts, like the idea of studying, "How is re-reading a text book over and over going to make me learn it better. If I know it, I know it. If I don't, I don't." Mind tends to wander.
Not very Trusting nor loyal to most of the school, but open to their friendship. (see Backstory)

Powers
Human Battery. Harris produces enough electricity through his body to power most electronics. His skin acts as a conductor. Acts as a lightning rod during storms and attracts lightening. Has been told he can channel the electricity as a weapon (i.e. shoot elecricity from his hands) but has yet been able to do so.
Weapon- Metal chain whip. he passes electricity through it to lengthen his range. clearly not very skilled with it.

Downsides
Has yet been able to control the flow of his electricity thus making his skin deadly to touch, as if grabbing a live power line. Can't physically touch others without wearing special gloves.
Not very interested in learning to control his powers, "what will be, will be." Learning to do so is more of a chore. The constant flow of electricity through his body causes his hair to stand up like it was infused with static electricity. Has to shave his body or his body hair becomes very unconformable under his cloths.

Back story

Harris was the runt of his family litter. The youngest of 6 kids, he was also the shortest. His brothers were all over 6 feet while his sisters all reached at least 5'9''. Teased through most of his school years. Harris learned to look past all his peer's jeers at his height and act friendly, though never letting others come too close to him. His father, a journalist for a well known television news station was a strict but kind man who somewhat spoiled Harris teaching him the joys of writing. His mother was a stay at home mom who always pushed the older siblings to include Harris.
Harris' powers manifested around the end of this 8th grade year. It's unknown how long they had been active but they weren't actually noticed until Harris had been kissed on the cheek by a younger student during their lunch period and was sent to the hospital.
Harris' parents were then informed of Chamber's High and he was sent there. Harris' found his powers cool and had little interest in getting to understand them- abusing them mostly to play video games and watch t.v. During his first two years at Chambers Harris was still teased about his height now only reaching just over 5 feet, but now as he begins his Junior year he is returning to the halls of this school at a whopping 5' 8'' and is still growing by the looks of it. He has grown in mind as well over the summer deciding that it's time for him to really learn how to at least control his powers enough so that he can have physical interaction with others- without the fear of hurting them.

I've got one:

Zakharal (Zack) - Freshman

Zakharal is a demon who ran away from home. As you would expect, Hell is not a very fun place to grow up, so he came up with a plan to escape to the mortal plane to live. After a couple years of wandering, he found out about Chambers. It looked like a really interesting place, and the only way to hang around there was to enroll, so he did.

Zack does a lot of things because they seem interesting. He's basically a hedonist - he's all about the experience, especially if it's one he's never had before. His favorite thing about Earth is that there's so much cool stuff to do - movies, books, rollerblading, cities full of weird people to meet, fights where no one gets killed, thousands of different kinds of good food, on and on and on. People are surprised to find out how mediocre his grades are, because it takes a truly bad teacher to bore him and he's always really into the lectures - but he doesn't bother doing much homework or studying for tests. Once class is over, he has better things to do. He doesn't really care about humans' ideas of right and wrong, but he has his own system: it's fun having friends and more fun when your friends are happy, so be cool to people and watch out for anyone who's important to you. Hurting people is boring - don't bother unless they start something with you or need to be taken down a peg, and even then funny is more entertaining than cruel, and usually works better.

Physically, Zack looks mostly human, but with big feathered wings and pointed ears. His skin is a medium brown color, his eyes are bright red, his hair is dark red. The plumage on his wings mostly matches his hair, but with a blurry back band down the middle of each wing. As powers, go, he's stronger, faster, and tougher than a human, though not by a huge margin, and he has some demonic magic, which he uses mostly by instinct, by channeling emotions into spells. And, of course, he can fly.

(Sorry, X, but I don't see the point of ditching a good character idea just because there were a lot of angels and demons in the last game. You might as well say the same thing about magic-users, or characters who are several people in the same body, and I'm sure there's still good characters to be found in both those categories, too.)
I bring the wind, to free you from your hesitation.
I call the storm, to remind you who you are.
