Well, I did finally did it.

You waste time playing games. Why not waste time talking about them too?

2 items, I finally created a topic for the first time, but that isn't the point of this topic. the point is...
I finally picked up a PS2. I got a new tv over the weekend, and I was going to get a stereo to go with it, but decided against it and got a PS2. With component cable, and mem cards, etc. They had some games on sale too, so I picked up FFX, Kingdom Hearts, and Ghost Recon. I havne't played a FF game since the original, on the nintendo, but I hear that it is a good series. I have heard good things about Kingdom Hearts, and I have been wanting to play it. As for ghost recon, I just needed another game to get the sale price, and dont' know much about it.

well, thats about all I wanted to say. Yeah, me! *does happy dance for his PS2*

I've been disapointed with the PS2 ever since my gamecube came out.

I think you'll enjoy KH. I thoroughly did, but then again I'm a Disney Geek.

FFX I started out liking, but tired of the angst after a while. I still haven't tried to finish the last battle.

Congrats, otherwise. Quick question(s): does the new TV have one of those nifty three-plug video connections, and are you using it to connect you new PS2?

(I still get confused which one's "component" and which one's "composite.")

Yep yep. Its a 32" Panasonic flatscreen HDTV. and on my freinds advise, I picked up a Monster™ component cable.
The tvs got 2 sets of those in the back, 3 s-video (2 back, 1 front) and 4 A/V jacks (3 back, 1 front).

Of couse I am only using 2 connections at the time. a component for the PS2, and an A/V for my gamecube. I need to see about ordering one for my gamecube.

So far, I am liking FFX, though the level up system is still a bit confusing. I am sure it'll become more clear as I play.

You should have gotten an Xbox to go with it. I think Xbox is a better machine. I mean if your into all those roleplaying games, then PS2 is better. But if you want really good graphics and some really good games, go with Xbox.

Yeah, I will probably pick one up eventually. One of the main reasons I got the PS2 over the xbox is because of the RPGs. That & Ridge Racer V. That game is worth it right there. Well, maybee not, but I intend to get it if I can find a copy.

the only thing that sucks about the tv is actually watching tv on it. I only have a set of rabit ears. instead of cable, I go with high speed internet. perhaps when I get a raise, I may get basic cable. That way I can have 50 some odd channels with nothing on but crap. But it will be high quality crap. :D

I agree with ma-kun about graphics. They don't neccesarilly make the game. I mean, how many people still play old nintendo games? they have rereleased them for crying out loud, and people are buying them.

But, good graphics have never hurt a game either. Eye candy can get you to buy a game, which is what they are shooting for, but that doens't stop companies from trying to make that game the best that they can. Its just that sometimes companies get too caught up with the graphics, which is sad. I would like to play a good game with decent graphics, than a bad game with the best graphics.

Alas, tis true. It is only a 4:3 and not a wide screen. Perhaps I should have taken the one that they kept finding in the back room, for the same price. But no, I stuck to my guns and made them find me the model that I wanted.

Its too bad I didn't get the picture in picture feature. I am sure that would have come in handy will all of the 9 channels that I get. 8)

Its not true that Xbox has only good graphics. What about games like Splinter Cell, Mechasault, Halo, and Halo (2), and other games you can only get on Xbox.

All those games are/will be available on PC. I think there's also a Splinter Cell for the Cube and the PS2. Correct me if I'm wrong.

splinter cell is another piece of dog doodoo from tom clancy <ill get you next time clancy -_0>
mech assult is a poor example for a game, if you wanted to use a mech game i would have said steel batalion which aside from Fable is the only game on xbox i play. and the halo 1 and halo 2 are just more first person shooters, which i still think that every fps ever made is the exact same game with different graphics and characters.
